About Smilax
Smilax Uses and Care Instructions
Smilax is the ornamental vine you see used in floral arrangements for a natural effect at weddings and baby showers. It is the vine of Christmas used in the south to decorate mantels. Smilax cascades from vases, twines up candlesticks, and is easily used to create archways of full brilliant luster. Jackson Vine, as it is also called, dates back to the Civil War when Stonewall Jackson visited Alabama and it was used to decorate tables and doorways. Most currently Smilax has taken off and is setting a trend with decorators worldwide.

Upon receipt of your smilax, we advise to spray with water and keep the vine hydrated, in a dark area, and cool until ready to use. Smilax is a hardy vine and will keep for up to 2 weeks in a cooler. Layering the vine will create a more full look and it is easy to manipulate.
